Marissa Gibbons, MSW, LCSW

Therapist/Clinical Supervisor - virtual only

Marissa attended Rutgers University and completed her undergraduate in 2005, obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science with a minor in Sociology. She received her Master's Degree in Social Work with a focus in Direct Practice from Rutgers School of Social Work in 2009. She obtained her Supervisor Certification in June 2022.


Marissa completed her master's level internships at Morristown Memorial Hospital Outpatient Counseling Services which focused on family preservation through individual, couples, and family counseling focusing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-Focused Therapy. Long-term services focused on assisting the family with obtaining supportive services to meet the future needs of the family. Her second-year internship was completed at St. John Vianney School where she provided school-based counseling services specifically focusing on CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy, and individual treatment to a case load of eighteen students as well as group counseling focused on improving social skills, anger management, and conflict resolution. Her post-graduate hours were completed at the Juvenile Justice Commission where she provided individual therapeutic sessions to adjudicated and incarcerated youth involved in the Juvenile Justice System with a focus on CBT, Trauma-Focused Therapy and Mindfulness Therapy, and group counseling focusing on anger management and life skills. 


Marissa is trained in CBT, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy. She welcomes adolescents and adults seeking to address anxiety, depression, grief, past/present trauma, and adjustment difficulties to life changes. In her free time she can be found on the soccer field or lacrosse field cheering on her kids.
